Serve & Connect formerly known as Volley against Violence is a Community/Police Engagement initiative designed to utilize tennis to bring youth and police officers together for physical activity, informal mentoring, relationship building, and the seamless delivery of life-skills curriculum. Children, police officers and other community volunteers meet together at Washington Park Tennis Center in the Westside of Atlanta, Friday nights from 6-8 p.m. for a fun night of pizza and tennis.

Originally created in Boston by Sportsmen’s Tennis and Enrichment Center (Sportsmen’s) and the Boston Police Department, Serve & Connect has grown tremendously since its conception in 2009. Youth participants learn to work as a team, to set and achieve goals, to respect one another, to respect police officers and to resolve conflicts as well as learn the importance of making an effort and trying new things.  AYTEF and The Chattahoochee Foundation joined forces with the Atlanta Police Department and the Atlanta Police Athletic League to successfully run this program on Friday Nights at Washington Park Tennis Center from 6-8pm.
