AYTEF After School and Summer Enrichment  Programs

We are unique as an after school and summer enrichment program because we seek to develop the character of young people through tennis and emphasizing the ideals and life of Arthur Ashe by:

  • Instilling in youth the values Ashe exemplified throughout his life--humanitarianism, leadership, and academic excellence. Reaching out to those who would not otherwise have the opportunity to learn and play tennis.

  • Giving all kids, regardless of income, race, or gender, the opportunity to fully develop their tennis skills so they can derive a lifetime of enjoyment from the sport.

  • Supporting working families by providing a safe haven for children during the out-of-school hours when they are most likely to be attracted to drugs, crime and violence.

Current Programs/Activities

ACE, STEM and Life Skills Curriculums

The Academic Creative Engagement (ACE) is an out-of-school academic curriculum connected to the Common Core State and National Educational Standards and the sport of tennis. Math, literacy and nutrition activities encourage academic achievement, health and wellness and social and emotional skills. When combined with a tennis program, it provides children with important Developmental Assets that also empower youth to become more successful through a focus on life skills. Additionally, we have our STEM and Life Skills curriculums that are integrated into our after school and summer camp programs.

Year Round Tennis

Youth of all ages participate in afterschool and summer tennis, junior tournaments, junior team tennis and Play Days. Youth are also exposed to summer camps, leadership and scholarship opportunities through exposure to the lifetime sport of tennis. Kids can develop and enhance their skills through competition in individual and team play settings where a sense of achievement is promoted through a fun and spirited atmosphere. Through tennis, we can reduce health risks, increase physical fitness and encourage a love for this lifetime sport.
